The beauty of decay

This morning it was rather misty, but there was just enough light to make some impressions in the park during my dog-duty. I'm grateful that the local authorities leave blown-down trees on their place instead of tidying up the park constantly.

I must have a better camera.

Mist sieves light
On a fallen tree
Moss, moist and green
In darkness unite.

Decay in dark,
Life in light,
Its rotting bark
Yields its might

Day and night
Alternate
So it is right,
So they create.

I guess it depends on where the trees fall. When trees block my favorite biking and hiking paths, I want them removed quickly.

Oh, I think these images are enchanting; as though from another world entirely.

Thanks for the compliments. The pictures are a bit misleading for the park is a normal regular park with regular maintenance, located between a living quarter and a road, nothing special or spooky. Trees fallen on paths are removed, and maybe this year they will remove the photographed tree as well, because the pond is used as skating floor in freezing winters. With photos you can create worlds of their own. However, until the 17th century there was a monastery on the island in the middle of the park, you can still see some big stones scattered around, and it sometimes is as if you feel the spirits of the monks around you.
